I’m writing to encourage EVERYONE on campus to become involved with the CCE at WVU. The CCE staff helped make my undergraduate experience great, and I promise they can help you find a project you’ll love too.

I first started working with the CCE after returning from a study abroad trip in South Africa. While abroad, I was involved with numerous service organizations, and I wanted to continue the work I was doing while in West Virginia. With the help of the CCE, I created the “Ubuntu Project”, which was a pen pal program that connected students in Kyamandi South Africa to kids at the Boys and Girls club in Morgantown.

Last year, I received a grant from the Nothing But Nets Foundation to enact a malaria campaign on campus. The CCE helped with planning the project and made sure I had the resources I needed for a successful campaign. My campaign ended up winning an award from the Nothing But Nets Foundation and is now being used as a national model for malaria fundraising.

No matter what your interests and skills are, the CCE has a project for you. Go ahead and visit there office today, but beware, you may become addicted to public service.
